OUR ITINERARY
Being in such a remote and wild place, means that it is difficult to give an exact plan of what we will be doing and when.  The weather and terrain to be encountered can be unexpected and changeable!  However, our planned itinerary should generally follow the outline below.  We will update the site regularly via the 'Blog' page to let you know what we are up, our achievements and where we are!

Friday 4th May 2007
The team will fly out from Glasgow and London and fly to Keflavik, Reyjavik, Iceland.   The team will stay overnight in Reykjavik.

Saturday 5th May
We take a domestic flight from Reykjavik airport to Isafjordur, in the north of Iceland.  Overnight in Isafjordur.

Sunday 6th May
At Isafjordur we get the Twin Otter to Sortebrae area at about 4pm local time.

7th May
Carry out a full kit check.  Set up Base Camp & safety equipment training.  Revision of glacial travel & crevasse rescue.

8th - 14th May
Make ascents of  the peaks surrounding Base Camp.

Tuesday 15th May
Rest day.

16th - 20th May
Journey up on to the ice cap and relocate Base Camp.  Make first ascents on the way.

Monday 21st May
Rest day.

22nd - 25th May
Journey back to Base Camp via the next westerly valley system, making ascents on the way.

Saturday 26th May
Prepare to move camp to the foot of Borge Tinde.

27th - 31st May
Ascents of and around Borge Tinde.

Friday 1st June
Sort & dry all kit, prepare to leave.

Saturday 2nd June
Twin Otter pick up, weather permitting. Fly back to Isafjordur, then transfer to a domestic flight to Reykjavik.  The turnaround time from landing on the Twin Otter, to making the flight is very tight (about 20 minutes!!!!  No time to get changed - so we'll probably all pong a bit.  If we miss this connection, we'll hire a couple of 4-Wheel Drive cars and drive through the night to make our connecting flights back to the UK !!!    Hopefully we will make the Isafjordur to Reykjavik flight and have time for lots of bubbly hot water & lots of food!
