Harris Design were delighted to be
asked to supply furniture for the upcoming film production of Ian McEwan's
best selling novel -
"Atonement" an epic Romantic Drama,
based
around WWII in the years 1935 / 1940 and concluding in 1999. The film
stars
Keira Knightly,
James McAvoy,
Kirsten Scott Thomas,
Abbie Cornish and
Vanessa Redgrave.
The film is being directed by Bafta winning
director, Joe Wright, who
most recently directed Keira Knightly to her her Oscar® nominated performance for Pride & Prejudice.
Atonement is being produced by
Working Title Films who
have previously bought Love Actually, Bridget Jones Diary, Notting Hill,
Billy Elliot, Dead Man Walking & The Interpreter to the big screen.
Harris Design supplied four of their Gloucester Sofas
(as shown above), their Canterbury Sofa,
Queen Anne Wing chair and
Wolsey Tub chair for use in the production.
Filming began in June, and with only two weeks notice to make the furniture
required for one of the sets; a hotel, the team at Harris Design had their
work cut out and had to pull out all of the stops, to complete the
commission in time.
